Description
This classic hand-blown red glass ball with the fleur-de--is topper stands in the PauseGarden near a trellised archway covered with clematis. I love the spark of red against the climbing, vining foliage. It somehow seems fitting that the fleur-de-lis lives in the garden since this emblem of all things French translates as 'flower of the lily' - although it is more like a stylized European iris than a lily. Also cool about this particular image is that it was painted on Arches watercolor paper, with the Arches France word-mark peaking subtly from the bottom right corner of the design. Arches WC paper has been manufactured in the same French mill since 1492. Apparently the business was launched around the same time that Christopher Columbus stumbled across America. Now thats one successful long term business!
